Background
The Forum was formed in June 1998 following a consultation period, with discussions and workshops facilitated by Scottish Enterprise.
Why have a supplier forum?
The semiconductor supplier infrastructure in Scotland has matured into a significant economic force that consists of over 100 companies employing over 2000 people.
There is always scope for further development / expansion of their business.
Prior to the formation of the SSSF, the supplier community had little or no voice within the Scottish semiconductor industry.
Industry perception was that the companies only supplied Scottish based manufacturing operations, when in many cases most of their business is outside Scotland and the UK.
There was a desire amongst a number of companies to work on common industry issues and to further develop the supplier infrastructure.
